How it works

SellOrSwap is simple. Here's how selling, buying and swapping work, step by step, all from your phone.

Selling

1. Tap Post an ad. Take clear photos in good light, from a few angles.
2. Pick a category, write a short honest title and say what condition it's in.
3. Set your price in euro. You can also say you're open to swaps or offers.
4. Choose how it gets to the buyer: collection, meet at a safe place, or post with An Post.
5. Chat with buyers in the app. When it's sold, mark it sold so people stop asking.

Buying

1. Browse by category or search for what you want. Set your county to see things near you.
2. Read the full ad and look at all the photos. Check the seller's reviews and badges.
3. Message the seller with any questions, or make an offer.
4. Pay by card in the app, where the money is held until you have the item, or pay cash when you meet.
5. Leave a review after, so the next buyer knows what to expect.

Swapping

1. On any ad marked open to swaps, tap Offer a swap and pick one of your own ads.
2. You can add cash on top if your item is worth a bit less.
3. The other person can accept, say no, or come back with a different offer.
4. Once you agree, arrange a time and place to meet and swap, or post the items to each other.

Giving things away

Got something you just want gone? Post it as a freebie. It's always free, and you earn giver points for every item that finds a new home.

What it costs

Posting an ad, swapping and paying cash in person are all free. Card payments in the app have a small card fee shown before you pay. Car and vehicle ads are €5. Everything is in euro.
